Stuart B Meyers (He/She/They/Stuart)
Stuart B Meyers is a dance artist, ritualist, party-organizer, DJ, aspiring mystic, and clown. Inspired by the overlap in his queer and Jewish identities, he creates shapeshifting, time-defying, and nostalgic works which crack open perspective and awaken spirit.
Stuart's worked alongside Robert Wilson, Christopher Williams, Thomas Bo Nilsson, Colette Sadler, Julian Webber, Nick Cave, Ann Liv Young, A.R.M. and Tino Sehgal. His ritual dinner party “*The Shabbos Queen*, a Queer & Dreamy Shabbat Dinner Delight & Extravaganza,” has toured internationally since 2017 with support from Berlin’s Cultural Senate and several US-based organizations. Most recently, CPR supported him in a Technical Residency to develop “The Yenta Show,” a talk show hosted by his angelic matchmaking character with interviews about queer love. Choreographic works include WITCH DANCE (Berlin), KOPFKINO (Berlin & NYC), Love Kills (for the 2019 BAM Gala), and PRIDE INSIIIDE, a storefront window performance installation in the West Village (NEA funded, NYC). Stuart also organizes Brooklyn's new Queer Jewish Dance Party FLAMINGGG, which over two inaugural parties has already hosted 600+ people.
Stuart was a 2019-2021 NYLA Fresh Tracks Artist, a 2020-2021 CPR AIR, a 2018 danceWeb Scholar, a Hypnotist (IHF), and reads Tarot and dreams through a Kabbalistic tradition (trained by Bonnie Buckner & Catherine Shainberg of the School of Images).
