You are invited to attend a film screening of Not Quite That, a documentary about local Jewish queer entrepreneur, Sarah White. Followed by a Q&A with Sarah White and the filmmakers. This is a free register-only film screening in partnership with the JCC Adult Program thanks to a New Horizons for Seniors Program grant. All donations at this event will be directed to BRCAinBC.
Documentary description: Might a genetic mutation be the very thing that allows this nice Jewish butch lesbian to be fully seen at last? Meet Sarah, 57. Lesbian? For sure. Jewish? Yes and no. Mother? In all but one sense. Trans? No, just often mistaken as such. Breast cancer survivor? Well, that’s the plan, the survival bit, but without the cancer or the breasts. This is the sixth event in our JQT Mental Health Support Series, which was developed in partnership with JFS Vancouver, following the Twice Blessed 2.0: The Jewish LGBTQ2SIA+ Initiative’s community needs assessment, which identified a critical service gap: Call to Action #6 - Develop and provide funding for LGBTQ2SIA+ friendly Jewish mental health support.
This gathering also addresses Call to Action #9 - Amplify and hire Jewish LGBTQ2SIA+ artists, performers, activists, etc.

This event will take place in the Norman Rothstein Theatre at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver located at 950 W. 41st Ave, near the corner of Oak St. The JCC building is accessible for those with assistive devices or mobility concerns. Within JCC are two non-gendered accessible bathrooms on the main floor, and an additional non-gendered accessible bathroom on the second floor with elevator access. Transportation, entrance & parking - The JCC is accessible by bus and a few blocks west of Canada Line sky train (Oakridge-41st station). Public cannot enter without an access badge or indicating destination inside by using the buzzer to call front desk staff. Security may inquire what event you are attending to access the building. Parking is a first-come, paid parking, surface lot adjacent to the building, or free street parking in the surrounding neighbourhood.

The JCC Adult Program is led by a registered social worker who is a JQT supporter and founding member of the JQT Seniors Initiative. The JCC Adult Program offers a variety of programs which create social connections by providing meaningful opportunities to learn, play and make friends in a safe and inclusive manner. The objective is to support aging in place, regardless of abilities or barriers to participation. JCC membership is not needed to participate in any Adult Program, and free or subsidized registrations are available so all can enjoy.
