JQT Heritage Month 2020


Jewish *Queer Trans* Heritage month was a three-part online showcase of artists from Vancouver. This series was a showcases featuring drag, hip-hop, music and poetry by local and international Jewish, queer and trans artists in celebration of Jewish Heritage Month. Generously supported by the Neighbourhood small grants.

JQT Heritage Month: Showcase 1 - "REMEMBERING" featuring:

✡ Kay Kassirer - Kay Kassirer (they/them) is a poet, activist, youth advocate, community organizer, and sex worker.

✡ LJ Weisberg - LJ Weisberg is a non-binary queer poet, artist and POC who has recently moved to Victoria, BC.

JQT Heritage Month: Showcase 2 - "BECOMING" featuring:

✡ Angelica Poversky - Angelica “ANGELIQUOI?” Poversky (they/them) is a poet, clown, and a genre/ gender fluid artist.

✡ Kinneret Ely, Soprano - Kinneret is a freelance opera singer based in New York City and Tel Aviv. She covered the roles of Anna in Catalani’s Loreley and the Fata Azzurra in Respighi’s La Bella Dormente nel Bosco in Teatro Grattacielo’s 25th Anniversary Concert in September 2019.

✡ Carmel Tanaka - Carmel is the founder of JQT Vancouver and occasionally moonlights as an accompanist.

✡ Erin Kirsh - Erin Kirsh is a writer and performer living in Vancouver. A Pushcart Prize nominee, her work has appeared in The Malahat Review, EVENT, CV2, Arc Poetry Magazine, subTerrain, and Geist, where she took second place in their postcard short story contest. Her greatest accomplishment to date is that one time she managed to paint her nails without getting the polish everywhere.

JQT Heritage Month: Showcase 3 - "CELEBRATING" featuring:

✡ Rogue - Rogue is Vancouver’s premiere Jewish drag artist and a self proclaimed instagram sensation. They’ve been performing all over the city for the past two years and won Entertainer of the Year 2019.

✡ Traffik - Traffik is a rapper and music producer from Vancouver.
